PrimeUSD allows JTRSY tokenized Treasury fund shares as collateral

The JTRSY token carries the highest credit rating of any tokenized fund — AA+f/S1+ from S&P Global Ratings, with Moody’s assigning an Aa. But those grades, as of March 2025, do not guarantee that the next chapter is smooth. PrimeUSD is now letting users post JTRSY as collateral.

That is a leveraged product built by Resolv Labs on Vault Street. The token represents shares in the Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund.

The fund itself is BVI-regulated and invests mostly in US Treasury bills under six months. Its assets sit somewhere between $400 million and $870 million. The management fee is about 25 basis points.

Here is the risk: collateral that moves inside decentralized finance protocols can behave differently than collateral that sits in a brokerage account. The tokenized wrapper lets JTRSY plug into lending markets like Morpho.

That means the same token can be borrowed against, lent out, or rehypothecated across multiple protocols at once. If one protocol fails — a smart contract bug, a governance attack, a sudden price oracle glitch — the collateral chain snaps. JTRSY holders could face losses that have nothing to do with the underlying Treasury bills.

PrimeUSD is permissioned. That means not just anyone can use it. There are gatekeepers.

But permissioned does not mean immune. The Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund itself is a real-world fund with real custody, real audits, real regulatory oversight.

The tokenized layer is the weak point — the new machinery that has not been stress-tested through a full market cycle. What is being done? The credit ratings matter.

S&P and Moody’s looked at the tokenized structure, not just the underlying Treasuries. Their grades signal that the fund’s legal and operational framework holds up under scrutiny.

The AA+f/S1+ rating from S&P is the highest any tokenized fund has received. That is not a guarantee, but it is a floor. It means the fund’s administrators, custodians, and auditors meet institutional standards.

The fund launched in 2024 as the Anemoy Liquid Treasury Fund on the Centrifuge platform. Janus Henderson came on as sub-investment manager later. That matters because Janus Henderson is a traditional asset manager with a reputation to protect.

If the tokenized side breaks, the real-world fund does not break with it — the two are legally separate. The token is a claim on shares, not the shares themselves.

Still, the market is small. JTRSY’s assets under management are in the hundreds of millions, not billions. A single large redemption or a sudden loss of confidence in the PrimeUSD platform could drain liquidity fast.

Tokenized Treasury funds have grown quickly, but they have not faced a real stress event — a flash crash, a stablecoin depeg, a regulatory shutdown. When one hits, the speed of blockchain settlement could work against holders.

Redemption requests that take days in traditional markets happen in minutes on-chain. The practical upshot is that JTRSY now serves two roles: a low-risk yield product and a piece of DeFi infrastructure. That second role introduces risks the first role never had.

The fund’s managers are aware. The ratings agencies are aware. The question is whether the market is aware.
